ABOUT THIS BLOG

“… Sunflowers are heliotropic, which means that they turn their flowers to follow the movement of the Sun across the sky.

Most sunflowers are remarkably tough…”

– Farmer’s Almanac

A very dear friend planted a sunflower seed for me several years ago.

As it was growing, there was a strong wind one day and it broke the stem 😦

But the young plant refused to die, instead it grew sideways for a bit, then it turned upward again, shot to the sky, and from it bloomed what I consider to be the prettiest flower I’ve ever seen 🙂

Life can be very challenging at times.

Sometimes life can break us and there will be times when we feel like giving up.

… and I think it’s quite normal to feel that way. We’re human.

When I experience things that I are difficult for me, I often turn to other people’s story to learn how to deal with the challenge at hand and figure out a solution.

And that’s what I want to do with this blog.

I want to share things that I learn along the way, from Dealing with Mental Illness to Making Homemade Italian Limoncello.

I hope you enjoy it 🙂

Pick yourself up and keep going”

ABOUT ME

What my family thinks of me:

What my colleague thinks of me:

Sophia Athena is an extraordinary individual. I have found her to be a highly intelligent person who is naturally inquisitive. This serves her well when conducting research, which she enjoys and excels at. She is also a gifted presenter, able to communicate insightfully and with persuasion.

Sophia comes from Indonesia. I have been very impressed by her propensity to capitalize on opportunities. Truthfully, she has not been ‘given’ many opportunities, particularly when compared to most in North America. She pursues opportunities energetically while always displaying much integrity, responsibility and care for others.

I have also been impressed with Sophia’s perseverance and tenacity. When she commits to a goal or purpose, she is undeterred and works diligently to overcome obstacles.

I am a Canadian with a 20+ year background in investment banking and corporate finance. Feel free to contact me for more information.

“Sophia left me an indelible memory, not just her sensibility, that immediately touched me, but also her curiosity, to explore herself and the world. Her generosity and enthusiasm are the treasures I will still carry with me. Along with the timeless conversations over coffee and chatters while preparing pasta. With her questions and her ambitions, Sophia is a world that I feel close even if distant.” – Giacomo B.

“… you made me discover another side of Indonesia and another side of Indonesians. It was nice to share stories with you, I felt (that you are) like a real sister even though we met only a few days ago. Never change, you are strong!

Carry on your thoughts and do not bow (bend/give in) to anything, it is insistence that it brings the results. Like the waves of the sea, rocks collapse, but continue unperturbed without ever giving up … ” -Raffaele G.

The One that I Cherish Forever

“… Sophia has a passion that burns fiercely, yet gentle to the touch. There are a lot of things i see in you, persistence to fight for whats right & passion to help others… Keep being a light in a dark place, because your big caring heart makes you special …”
